High Tech Gifts (Day 6), 12 Days of Shopping

Posted on December 6, 2012May 26, 2024 by Pragmatic Mom

High Tech Gifts for Moms, Dads and Kids

My post for high tech gifts from last year includes the Kindle Fire and iPhone and iPad cases. Capability:Mom has low tech gift ideas as well.

High Tech Gifts for Kids

Earbud Holder from The Container Store, $4

This handy contraption keeps earbuds untangled and easy to find because it attaches to your phone or phone case. I think this might be the perfect stocking stuffer for all ages!

ear bud holder, The Container Store

Phone Dock Clock and Alarm, $40

My oldest could use a docking station to recharge her iPhone which also doubles as an alarm clock to wake up for school. I saw it in fun neon colors in magazines as well.

Logitech Washable Keyboard, $40

If your kids use a computer and eat near it, this is worth the money. Not only will you be able to remove the sticky, icky mess they leave behind, but it is also spill-proof.

High Tech Gifts for Moms

2600mah Aluminum Tubes Cylindrical Mobile Power for iPhone, $16

This is a nice gizmo for a stocking stuffer! A battery with a USB plug on it that fits in your purse for charging your phone when you aren’t around any outlets for a long time. Genius! It’s on sale for $7.22 here.

Magnet that Plays Video, $60

The Play Video Magnet is a lovely way to leave a message for loved ones on your fridge to make them smile,

Touch Screen Gloves, $19

In New England, we need gloves for half the year so it’s nice to be able to keep them on in the cold when you need to use your smartphone.

touch screen gloves, iphone gloves, texting gloves for women

Instant Digital Camera with a built-in printer, $160

It’s pricey but perfect for moms or mother-in-laws who are technology-challenged or just need a quick Polaroid for a project.

High Tech Gifts for the Family

Nikon Coolpix S01, $127 (regularly $180)

I’m always thinking I need a pocket-size camera that takes better photos than my iPhone because I hate lugging around the big camera. This camera also takes HD video which is an added bonus. It’s pocket-sized and easy to use. It’s either this one or the Samsung MV900F I think…

Samsung MV900F, $224 (regularly $350)

This camera also takes HD video but the big feature of this camera is that it rotates 180 degrees for easy self-portraits. Not sure I need that but my kids would love that! It’s also designed for photo sharing with built-in Wi-Fi for easy uploading to your phone, computer, Facebook, or whatever you want. A social media-friendly camera!

Kindle Paperwhite, $112

With a 2 month battery life, this is a great eReader for those with a large library of ebooks.

Nook Simple Touch eReader , $81

Well-priced with a steep discount, the Nook eReader is also easy to use with a 2 month battery life.

Boomz Audio Laptop Speakers, $30

This little speaker gives smartphones and tablet computers an audio boost at a nice price tag!

Braven 625S Portable Speaker, $150

A portable speaker turns your iPhone or iPod into a party. It’s compact at 6.3 x 1.8 x 2.5 inches too so it doesn’t take up much space making it perfect for the kitchen if you like a stereo while you cook. It won Travel and Leisure’s 2012 High Tech award.

Samsung Chrome Book,  $250

The perfect laptop for those of us who pretty much only use the web to do everything. And it updates automatically!

iPad Mini with Wi-Fi, $329 and up

We lost our iPad last year. I think my son left it as a restaurant. I refuse to replace it with another iPad but if I ever did, I’m tempted by the iPad mini. I especially love the Wi-Fi capability which would come in handy!

Love these – I am cutting and pasting your suggestions to my gift list – or is my family tech-y enough to just send them the link?

      Hi MaryAnne,
We could use the washable keyboard ourselves! My kids like to snack while on the computer and their hands are so sticky!

WANT the docking station. And who would have thought just a few years ago that you would be able to buy a laptop for $250. Wowza.

      Hi Jeanette from Artchoo!,
I know! Prices are dropping! Even to get an iPad in mini form with smaller price tag! Who wouldda thunk?!

      Hi Asian Mommy,
I know?!!! So simple and so brilliant. And lightweight too which is great because I hate carrying a heavy purse. It’s just a AA battery with special plug in for your cell. Great for emergencies!
