Summer Math Review for 2nd Grade
Ready for week 3 of summer math review for incoming second grade kids? My son is doing this week by week. We try to do it as mental math problems first.
What about you? Are you doing math review with your kids? What is working for you? We are also loving reading picture books with math concepts.
p.s. Here is Week 1. Here is Week 2.
Monday, July 2
Show 30 cents using pennies, nickels, and/or dimes. Record your answer and show it to someone in your family. Find a different way to show 30 cents.
Tuesday, July 3
Write and illustrate a story problem for 9 + 9. Play Flower Power to practice your doubles addition facts.
Wednesday, July 4
Practice your math facts of 10 by playing Math Lines. Keep practicing to get to higher levels.
Thursday, July 5
Tell someone in your family the sums of dubles. Start with 1+ 1 = 2, then 2 + 2 = 4, then 3 + 3 = 6. See how high you can go.
Friday, July 6
How many days are in a week? How many months are in a year? How many more days until school starts?
Saturday, July 7
Write your name, address, and phone number. Write your birthday, with the year you were born.
Sunday, July 8

Thanks for the summer math review update! My daughter and I are doing these together. May include my 4 year old too this time (as he’s able).
Hi Ann,
I do think the math problems skew up and down by at least a year. It’s so great your 4 year old can do them; clearly has the math gene! I’ll keep posting all summer. There are some fun and free math websites that your kids might like as well.
