Best Books for Kids!
It’s so great to see kids caught in the act of reading this summer and I’ve tried to identify which books they are reading because if these are books kids will actually Drop Everything And Read books.
If you send me a picture, I’ll send you a book. If you gave me the picture via Twitter, please email me your address and I’ll get one right out to you. Thank you!
Has it been easy or challenging to get your child reading this summer? Care to share any tips, tricks or favorite books? Thanks for sharing!!

Love seeing us in lights! We have instituted a “quiet time” every day for 45 minutes. Your option? Read, draw, meditate, repeat. And you know what? THEY LOVE THIS TIME. There is no “choosing” reading or electronica. They just read, because that is what they want to do!
Hi Mama C,
I LOVE the quiet time idea! MUST DO IT AT HOME WITH MY KIDS!!! Do your boys ever choose meditate? Just wondering …
We love that Richard Scarry book! I am going to institute Mama C’s 45 quiet time, because my son has officially stopped napping.
Hi Artchoo!
I’m with you! Going to try 45 minute quiet time too but will include board games or legos. Just not screens.
To Artchoo – that is a sad day!
Hi Ann,
I really need that threaded comments plugin to follow the conversation! Anyone know what it’s called?
I LOVE these pics of kids reading!!!
My only tip is frequent library trips. We take out more than we have time to read – lots of choices.
Hi Ann,
Those kids are so cute and so happy that kids are reading this summer! I need to take my kids to library more often. Good reminder!!

Hi MariaAna,
Me too!!! Nothing makes me happier than to see kids reading!!!
These pictures make me smile. 🙂 I suggest public libraries! More than likely they have special stuff going on. How about having kids ask library staff for help? They may know about secret treasures us moms overlook.
Hi Nadine,
So glad you like kids caught reading this summer! Me too! Makes me so happy! Great suggestion asking librarians! They are full of wonderful suggestions!
