In Living Color: What Ancient Greek Statues Looked Like
I found this from the Best of Digg. For those interested in Ancient Greek Civilization, Greek Mythology, or just plain old Percy Jackson fans, check out this post from ColourLovers that depicts ancient Greek sculpture and how it really looked based on scientific research. Can you imagine how the ruins today must have really looked like back in the day? It must have been amazing!
Here’s the link. It’s titled Gods in Color: Painted Sculpture of Classical Antiquity.

BEST #OWNVOICES CHILDREN’S BOOKS: My Favorite Diversity Books for Kids Ages 1-12 is a book that I created to highlight books written by authors who share the same marginalized identity as the characters in their books.
That is tres very cool! I’m going to share the site with my coworkers (and fellow youth librarians).
I prefer them without the color. Looks like Japanese anime haha.
Hi Guy,
I know what you mean. We are so used to seeing the Greek Statues as white sculpture without paint that it’s a little freaky to see them in full color looking realistic. You must like Japanese Anime too?
Oooh, thanks for sharing, this was perfect for us, as we’re reading Greek mythology right now!
Hi Shecki,
Yay! I hope you kids enjoy it too as much as mine did! It’s amazing to picture, isn’t it?!
You say, “Here’s the link. It’s titled Gods in Color: Painted Sculpture of Classical Antiquity.” But there is no link. 🙁 Could you please add it?
Hi Robert,
Sorry, the website went down so it came up as a broken link so I took it down. Here’s the link: http://buntegoetter.liebieghaus.de/en
