Caught in the Act … of READING!

Kids Caught in the Act of Reading!

Yikes!! I am almost out of photos! Thank you to friends and readers for submitting the photos for this week’s Caught in the Act … of READING! Please send more! It’s great to see kids enjoying reading at home or out and about.

This week’s books were also a nice selection from Rick Riordan’s popular Percy Jackson chapter book series, Dr. Seuss’ classic easy reader The Cat in the Hat, to a graphic novel (still to be named) and book that was created at school by stapling together pages. Hey, it all counts! It’s not so much WHAT they read but GETTING them to read. Nice job parents!!!

Caught in the Act of Reading Pragmatic Mom battle of the labyrinth Rick Riordan Kane

Thank you to for this pick of his daughter who has been loving the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan AND the Kane Chronicles as well. She’s reading while waiting at her swim meet.

She is going into 6th grade for anyone who is trying to gauge the sweet spot for these two popular series. It is both unisex (my going into 6th grader daughter also loves both series and widely appealing for ages about 9-14.)

I just realized that the newest book is out: Son of Neptune!

Thank you to my mom friend Gwen for sending in a picture of her two sons reading a graphic novel nicely together. She claims that I gave them the book as a birthday (or unbirthday gift) and I may have so shame on me for not knowing which book it is. I do like to give books as gifts! 🙂

Emphasis on Joy‘s baby Zoe is an avid reader! She is very seriously pondering whether or not Thing One, Thing Two and The Cat in the Hat should be in the house when mother is out. Clearly, she would not have let them in! I also love how the book is upside down!!

caught in the act of reading pragmaticmom have you filled your bucket today?

A friend from high school Jacqueline sent in some great photos and this is the first one. She also suggests a wonderful book called Have You Filled Your Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud.
