Smart Phone Geo Location Button Safety
My Mom Friend sent me this NBC Action News video about how bad people can use the same technology that FourSquare uses to figure out the exact location of any photo (including room location in your house) you post online in which geotagging or location is enabled on your smart phone.
This is not good if you have cute chidren!
It’s very simple to go to your smart phone SETTINGS and turn off LOCATION or GEOTAGS which then keeps your photos safe bad people which I highly recommend.
Yes, this is alarming and under-the-radar. I had no idea and, in fact, just turned my LOCATION setting off in my own iPhone. It was easy to do but who knew?! Watch this video from NBC Action News. There are instructions at the end if you are unclear how to do this on your own. smart phone.
Note: That I turned off the LOCATION setting in my iPhone under “Camera.” My good and helpful Twitter friend @ianchia suggests that you use this google search to learn more: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=remove+geotag+info+from+photo
p.s. I also removed “Tweet Location” from my Twitter account and deleted my location from all past tweets. You can do this under “Settings” in Twitter. Make sure “Tweet Location” check box is NOT checked for “Add a location to your tweets . ” To delete location history from past tweets, select the link called “delete all location information from past tweets” which is a link below that check box. It can take up to 30 minutes to do that.
