Easy Chapter Books for 2nd Grade
My middle daughter wanted to post on this series and this is what she says:
” This is kind of like a Harry Potter for kids in first or second grade. Maybe even Kindergarten if a parent reads aloud to their child. It’s about these kids in third grade and they get moved down to the basement classroom, and they start to think that there are ghosts in their room (and it’s true!). This is a series that I highly recommend. There are eleven or twelve books.
I am an advanced reader for my grade. I am at the tail end of second grade. I read a grade ahead. I can read Percy Jackson on my own. [I am not totally sure that this is true but let’s go with that.] The last books I read on my own included: All-of-a-Kind Family by Sydney Taylor, The Bailey School series, and Go Girl! series.
This summer I want to read the Percy Jackson series, and more All-of-a-Kind series.”

This book series reminds me of the Bailey School Kids series as there is always a problem or mystery to solve. My daughter ended up reading just a few of these. This past summer, she actually read the newest Clementine (Friend of the Week) by Sara Pennypacker, The Pain and the Great One by Judy Blume which she loves so much she will do another post on that, and an assortment of other books that I can’t quite recall.
I am also on a personal quest along with author Melissa Wiley to get the rest of the All-of-a-Kind series back in print. Right now, only the first book is available which is a real shame!
