My son thinks the part where the little boy explains why he was crying is sooo funny that he’s actually memorized it! The story is about a cute little boy monster who can’t scare anyone so he finds the most scard-y cat kid in the world to scare. [picture book, ages 4 and up]
9. Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi

Egg is not sure about potty training but Peep has a strategy to lure Egg to try. Spoiler alert: books and potty training are natural partners in crime! This is a gentle and humorous potty training book that kids of all ages will enjoy. My son who is 13-years-old thought this book is hilarious! [picture book, ages 2 and up]

Hot Rod Hamster by Cynthia Lord
This book arrived in the mail today and my five-year-old son insisted that I include it on the “funny book list on your blog.” He made me read it 5 times today! This is Cynthia Lord’s first picture book. She also wrote the Newbery Winner chapter book Rules (which is outstanding). This is a funny, rhyming book that appeals to hot rod racers! It’s a very cute story about a hamster who is going to a hot rod race and a dog helps him build his race car. It’s really fun to read aloud! [picture book, ages 4 and up]
