Learn Colors with Delightful eBook App for Toddlers
Once upon an App has these two cute iPhone or iPad applications for learning colors called Fruits and Veggies. As you can see by the images, the artwork is charming and old fashioned. It appealed to my “all boy” 5-year-old who delighted in matching the colors during a Chinese Culture performance that did not hold his interest. We just turned down the volume on my iPhone and it kept him occupied for the last half hour of the show and I was, frankly, surprised that this held his attention because we haven’t worked on colors for years.

This is a delightful way to occupy toddlers or preschoolers who want to learn their colors while waiting at a restaurant. Both of these applications have words on the page that the narrator reads so it also helps with literacy. The color words are also colored in their respective colors — “red” is colored in red while the rest of the text is black.
