Right about now, you are probably ready for a trip to the beach or a dip in a pool? Or maybe you are planning a trip to NYC to check out the sights? I have three beautiful Asian American wordless picture books that will take you there with just a flip of a page.
What amazing diversity wordless picture books do you love? Please share! Thank you!
Pool by JiHyeon Lee
A swimming pool gets overrun with people and their pool toys for a young boy so he dives underneath them into the water below … where he meets a friend … and an amazing underwater world filled with sea creatures big and small. [wordless picture book, ages 4 and up]
Wave by Suzy Lee
It just might be this little girl’s first trip to the ocean because at first the waves scare her. She finally jumps in and frolics about in the water when a huge wave splashes her. She’s not happy about being pounded by the wave but it leaves presents behind. [wordless picture book, ages 4 and up]
Here I Am by Patti Kim, illustrated by Sonia Sanchez
This is a Korean American immigrant story which begins with a plane ride over to the United States to New York City. It’s not easy adjusting to a new city and a new language but slowly, slowly the young boy adjusts. He’s brought with him a seed from his old country and it helps him make a new friend … and a new happy life. [wordless picture book, ages 6 and up]
p.s. Our Picture Book of the Day group is on hiatus for July and August but I wanted to share these books with you and had my post ready early so I am sharing by my lonesome.

I loved Here I Am–it was so sweet & touching! I’ve been dying to get my hands on Pool! Waves looks wonderful too. Thanks, Mia!
Hi Maria,
They are — all 3 — so wonderfully done. I am hoping Pool get some recognition when it comes time to hand out book awards like the Caldecott!!!
I love wordless picture books, and these look great!
Hi MaryAnne,
Me too after I got the hand of “reading” them. I hope you and your kids get a chance to read these three!
Thanks so much for joining the #sundaysdownunder link up. I\\\’ve pinned your posts and shared on social media on my personal blog account and on my education blog account. Your resources are fantastic.
Best wishes,Natasha in Oz
Thank you so much Natasha! My daughter just got back from five weeks in Australia and she had a wonderful experience because the people are so friendly and nice!
