My 8-year-old was not a great napper as a toddler. By age 2, he had eliminated his nap altogether which was devastating for me as I was used to a two hour afternoon nap that I took along with his older sisters. So, instead, I let him watch PBS Kids for two hours of “downtime.”

Now that I’ve gotten all three of my kids reading, I realize that they were all reluctant readers at some point. Which made me wonder. Are all kids reluctant readers? Is reading like learning to ride a bicycle? A milestone skill that comes to kids at a different points in their life? What I really love about Winged Chariot iPhone/iPad/iPod ebooks is that they come in a slew of languages. Scruffy Kitty comes in Dutch, English, French, Spanish, and Japanese. These apps also always have a sticker app which is fun for kids. It would be a dream come true for me if my kids read this ebook in Spanish for fun! There are not a ton of free children’s classics for Kindle, but there are some good ones. I suppose the common theme here is expired copyright protection.
