Cereal that Makes Mom and Kids Happy: Mom’s Best

Breakfast is a daily struggle at my house, especially on a school day when there’s no time to eat out at our favorite Asian soup noodle places.  We try to make a hot breakfast two or three days a week which is a variation of eggs (scrambled, omelet, hard boiled).  Bagels are too carb packed and my kids don’t like English muffins.  They also prefer their pancakes from scratch.

So our “fast breakfast” staples are toast with milk, cereal with milk, multi-grain frozen waffles with milk (new for us!), yogurt, and smoothies.  Unfortunately, my kids refuse to eat reasonably healthy cereals.  Puffins were summarily dismissed as “disgusting.”  Honey-nut cheerios were a big favorite but then my 2nd grader came home from school after gym class and said that they studied nutrition today and did I know that honey-nut cheerios are as bad as the sugary cereal that they are not supposed to eat?  Sigh!  (Those labels on cereal are deliberately misleading, I tell you!)

For the past two days, we’ve been sampling a new line of cereal from Mom’s Best.  The Sweetened Wheat-fuls were the kids’ favorite and despite 11 g of sugar (ideally, get the sugar grams as close to the the fiber grams as you can! Rule of thumb from my nutritionist), have a decent 6 grams of fiber, a whopping 44 grams of whole grain and a bonus of 5 grams of protein NOT including the milk per serving!  Yay!  We have a winner!

Mom’s best cereal is not widely distributed.  Go to:  http://momsbestnaturals.com to see if there is a store near you.  It’s worth mail ordering.  I know I will!
