About
Welcome to Pragmatic Mom!
I’m a mom with three kids, ages 10, 7 and 5 and I live in a suburb outside of Boston. I’ve been a full-time bread-winner (my first and my husband stayed home with her), a stay-at-home mom (my second because my husband said that if he had to stay home with two kids he’d be forced to leave us), and an outside-the- home wage earner/stay-at-home mom (just recently). I can say that having done the SAHM, the WAHM, and the full time work mommy that NONE of it is easy or perfect. All have pros and cons and the grass is always greener.
For me, getting through the humps of parenting was only possible with the help of many, many mom friends. Over the years, I’ve found that I wished I’ve saved all the mom advice I have either learned from mom friends or learned the hard way. Now, I’m documenting it in hopes that it will be useful to you.
I blog on children’s literature, education and parenting and whatever else life throws at me. I started reading children’s lit again two years ago when I realized I was giving my oldest Newbery Award Winning books that were her reading level, but were inappropriate because of content. As my middle child started reading independently, she was so picky that I had to wrack my brain to get her books she likes. And my youngest, who is just starting to read, has gone on a reading strike lately. So, there you have it. It’s always a challenge to find “just-right” books and that has become my life.
My background includes an A.B. from Harvard in History and Science (yeah, very obscure I know — I was an unhappy Pre-Med) and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at U.C.L.A (that was more fun). I also have an entrepreneurial bent as one of the co-founders of Aquent (www.Aquent.com), a talent agency for marketers and designers. To learn about SEO, I recently launched a group blog at CoffeeShopBloggers, The S.O.S. for SEO, which is based on a blogging group that I run (the best thing I ever did was form this group! )
If any of my posts resonate with you and you would like to recommend it to other people, I’d appreciate it if you’d hit the link to “Stumble This,” “Digg this,” “Share on Delicious” that is next to every post. This helps me get new readers! Thanks!
And please leave a comment, even if it’s just to say hi! This helps me know what you are thinking!! ![]()
