4 Animal Picture Book Giveaway!

4 Animal Picture Book Giveaway!

To celebrate Todd Parr‘s  newest padded board books: Doggy Kisses 123 and Animals in Underwear ABC, I’m teaming up with Christina of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers to do a 4 animal picture book giveaway!! Yay!!

We love Todd Parr! Our first Todd Parr picture book was It’s Ok to be Different! and I read it to my oldest when she was in Kindergarten after her classmate’s mom recommended it to me, as a message that would help her son handle questions of why he had two moms. My daughter did wonder that, but out of curiosity, not in a judging kind of way.

We also loved his The Thankful Book which is another gentle message about gratitude. We also liked his TV show. And I checked out his website and found wonderful activities for kids.

Animals in Underwear ABC by Todd Parr
From alligator to zebra – there’s no better way to learn the alphabet than with animals … in underwear! Because anything in underwear is funny!

Mr. Tiger Goes Wild! by Peter Brown
Mr. Tiger lives in a world that is inhabited by proper ladies and gentlemen, where manners and etiquette are of the utmost importance.  Tired of being so formal at all times, Mr. Tiger runs away to the jungle to loosen up, have fun and be … wild.  But will he go too far?  From Caldecott Honor and New York Times bestselling artist Peter Brown comes a story that celebrates individuality and emphasizes that there is a time and place for everything … even going wild.

Underwater Dogs: Kids Edition by Seth Casteel

A picture book companion to the New York Times bestselling photography book, Underwater Dogs features over forty photographs of doggies chasing their favorite toys underwater.  It also includes a full color poster and information about each dog breed, very useful if you are picking a family dog or just wanting to learn about dog breeds!

  2. I don’t know Todd Parr’s books, but I love his illustrations–so cute! And for dogs, mutts are the best!

There are way too many animal books for me to mention, but here are some titles:

For nonfiction, Steve Jenkins’s Dogs & Cats
    Dogku by Andrew Clements
Wonton by Lee Wardlaw (also told in haikus)
Litttle Dog Lost by Monica Carnesi
(and the middle grade verse novel of the same title by Marion Dane Bauer)
Hound from the Pound by Jessica Swaim (rollicking rhyme)
The Incredible Life of Balto by Meghan McCarthy
    Bone Dog by Eric Rohmann

I could go on and on but I would be remiss if I did not include an all-time favorite, The One & Only Ivan–I LOVE this book!

And for photobooks, Unlikely Friends by Jennifer Holland
