PickyKidPix is obsessed with hair styling which she is learning via YouTube videos, mostly through Cute Hair Styles. She’s watched all 200+ of them. I can actually recognize the videos from the audio alone!!
She gotten quite good at complex braids and have moved on to hot styling products including curling irons and flat irons. When I told her I had an offer to try out Hair Chalk, she was all over it! “YES!”, she said. And her disdain for my blogging has moved incrementally but slightly in a more favorable position.
I guess all the rage is ombre hair and/or dipped dyed ends. I’m not too enthusiatic about permanent hair color for my tween but I am ok with Hair Chalk.

I’ve never even heard of hair chalk!
Hi Erica,
I would have never heard of it either but my 11-year-old daughter in 6th grade is obsessed with hair styling and all things hair! She wanted to go to hair school this year but my husband put his foot down so she’s learning via video and trial by error. She gets her friends to act as hair models for her complex braiding, hair straightening or hair styling. She just did my eyebrows last night and I was wary but I have to say she did a better job that I do!
Apparently, she tells me that hair chalk is not as popular with her set as it was a few years ago but she’d love to try it out to see how well it adheres to the hair. Her sister will not allow her to use her art supplies so that’s why she wanted this set. It does look EXACTLY like chalk pastels for art though! I wonder if they are any different!
I believe these are just chalk. 🙂 My sister likes these kind of things! 🙂 My mom lets her use them sometimes. 🙂
Hi Erik,
It does look like just chalk! My 6th grader is excited to try it out!
It’s like hombre. Only it’s much better, yes?
Hi Jenna,
Well, it’s washable!
