Picture Book of Smiles in Unexpected Places
This book makes me smile. I can attest that it appeals to older kids because my 6th grader snagged it when it arrived and asked to keep it.
The Smiley Book of Colors by Ruth Kaiser is a clever picture book that captures smiley faces in everyday objects. It also teaches colors. An upside red purse is really a smiley face! Can you see it? What I love about it is that it also teaches kids to see, REALLY see, like an artist. Is there a smiley face lurking about? Probably! You just have to see it.
This book will make preschoolers giggle, older children want to borrow your camera and go on a Smiley hunt, and adult grin. Ruth even has a Smiley song you can link to on your blog!
And the best part is, every photo of a Smiley uploaded to Ruth’s website “earns” $1 to be donated to Operation Smile, which pays for surgeries for children with facial deformities such as cleft palate.
