Hosting Game Day Party: It’s All About the Food!

Game Day Party Menu Ideas

Are you hosting a big sports game day party? It’s a daunting task, especially if you invite multiple families but I think the secret to a stress free and successful party is all about the food! There is no shame is using pre-prepared food and if you are feeding both kids and adults, I find it easier to make separate food for each group. There’s nothing worse than a kid whispering loudly to his mom that “there’s nothing here that I like to eat and I’m HUNGRY!” Tyson Any’tizers will keep the kids happy and adults might sneak a few themselves. Cut up fruit for a fruit salad and you are all set for the younger crowd.

For adults, here’s an easy appetizer that’s always been a crowd pleaser at my house:

2-3 plum tomatoes diced

1 container prepared pesto sauce

1 container crumbled feta cheese

olive oil

Dice the tomatoes and combine with pesto and feta. Drizzle olive oil on top and serve with a sliced baugette.

For a salad option, try a Greek salad. Use baby spinach leaves, tomatoes, feta, red onion and cucumber. The dressing is so simple: olive oil (about a quarter cut), juice of a lemon, and dried oregano (about a teaspoon). Toss together right before you’re ready to serve.

I would make a big pot of Chile for adults and add in Mac and Cheese if you need a vegetarian option. Kids will also eat the mac and cheese. Woody DeSilva’s Championship Chile recipe is fiery hot, but scale back on the chile pequin if you want less heat. Mac and Cheese with Gruyere and Cheddar will satisfy adults but children will like it too.

What makes this menu stress free is that you can make everything ahead of time so you can enjoy the game, win, lose or tie! And if you win the TV, all the more reason to throw another party next year! Why not? You have it down now!

p.s. I also find that Tyson Any’tizers are a great snack that satisfies your kids on game day or any day! My nutritionist likes a protein as a snack for after school.
