T’was Night Before Christmas Poem for Teachers
Melissa: ’Twas the Week Before Christmas
’Twas the week before Christmas
and all through my brain
was a message on repeat:
“I think I’m going insane.”
The presents are wrapped,
my finals are done.
So what stands between now
and eleven days full of fun?
Ah, just three days of school
till our break will arrive;
not even a week…
but will I survive?
My lessons were planned
with the utmost of care
in hopes that my students’
attention I’d snare.
I pictured my students
all snug in their seats
fully engrossed
in tough academic feats.
When out of my daydream
I awoke super-quick,
and returned to reality;
this week’s lessons won’t stick.
Oh well, I suppose
it’s time to relax.
We’ll have a party,
a movie, some snacks.
Then just when I thought
nothing else could distract,
now there’s a blizzard
scheduled for impact.
Maybe I’ll awake
to a teacher’s best gift (SNOW DAY!!!)
or try to venture to school
and get stuck in a drift.
No matter the weather,
the schedule, or plans;
despite the blue fingers
and frostbitten hands,
To my classroom I’ll head
with a smile on my face.
Where else would I be?
There’s really no place.
So from my classroom
warm wishes I send.
Bright holiday greetings
I sincerely extend.
