Delightful Children’s Books is a blog that I’ve just started following and it’s great! She has a wonderful post on International Children’s Picture Books by Country with Crafts and Recipes. She covers all the continents and has great resources on additional book lists.

I’m a huge fan of Imagination Soup. She has a knack of making learning exceptionally fun. 10 Amazing Writing Activities and Resources for Kids is a post that I will return to again and again for fun writing projects with my kids. I wish I lived near her because she also teaches writing classes for kids that sound really fun. She lives in Centenniel, Colorado.

Read Aloud Dad has a wonderful blog born of loving to read out loud to his twins. He meticulously researched the best illustrated fairy tale books and came up with a winner!

Do you want to judge children’s books? The Cybils Call for Judges begins NOW! I met one of the judges, Mother Reader, at KidLitCon 2011 and she stressed that they are picking judges based on how passionate the person is about children’s books. If you apply, take time to express your love of children’s books. Also some categories of books are less popular than others. Think Graphic Novels or Non Fiction if you really, really want to judge. I found this link on Jen Robinson’s Book Page, another favorite blog of mine.

My dermatologist, Dr. Madeline Krauss, has a great blog where she answers, very thoroughly, all the derm questions that people ask her at cocktail parties including teen acne, poison ivy, and Lyme disease.

My son requested guitar lessons and I found Suzuki Dad‘s post on best guitars for kids to be really helpful, particularly when you need a 1/8 size guitar. We ended up with a gorgeous Benjamin Garcia guitar. Now we need a classical guitar teacher.

If you ever look up at your white ceilings and think about enhancing the room as I often do, I find inspiration from DesignTrackMind‘s White Ceilings Beware. The 5th wall, apparently, is the ceiling! We also have a gross full bathroom (our only full bathroom) so I am inspired by her post called Sick of Boring Bathrooms.

  1. Hi Pragmatic Mom,

Wow … no wait, let me rephrase that … wow!

I don’t know what to say – a ‘thank you’ seems to weak.

What I most love about this post, is the fact that I am now part of one of your fabulous blog lists!

Thank you for your kind words and for all these great blog tips and advice.

Thanks for making the day fabulous!

  2. Pragmatic Mom, I just discovered your reference to my children’s guitar page. I’m glad it was helpful. The Benjamin Garcias are nice guitars. I wish you luck in finding a teacher.

    • To Suzuki Dad,
We ended up with a wonderful teacher that my flute teacher helped me find by going through teachers at Boston Classical Guitar Society. And that Benjamin Garcia guitar is wonderful. It holds the tune quite well and has a lovely sound. The hard case with backpack straps are key too!
