Second Hand Saturday: FREE Book Giveaway

Win Kids Books

Congrats to Karla Duff for winning Arlene on the Scene and Kris for winning Advice My Parents Gave Me. They were selected on the basis on giving a comment on which book they wanted and why they wanted it.

———————-

Can you believe it’s a new year already?!!  A mom friend sent out a holiday card several years ago, and one sentence has always stuck with me which I attribute to her but it may be from someone else: When you parent small children, the days are long but the years are short!

Second Hand Saturday is a new weekly feature for me and this is my second time posting on it.  As I mentioned in my first post, it was started by the blog Reading Teen as a weekly contest to clear out the bookshelves, and many other blogs jumped on board.  I am late to this party, but happy to be attending.  Thank you Reading Teen!

To win either book, please leave a comment.  If you give a reason why you want this particular book, you’ll likely win it.  I do love to get the right book to the right person!  It’s a karma thing!  If you win, I’ll email you to get your address and I’ll mail it right out!

I blogged on both books, so here are the links in case you want to know what each book is about.

Arlene on the Scene, special needs chapter book for middle grade, pragmatic mom, pragmaticmom.com, CMT Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease nerve disorder inspiring book for elementary school age children Arlene on the Scene by Carol Liu with Marybeth Sidoti Caldarone

Arlene has CMT, Charcot-Marie-Tooth Syndrome which is a nerve disorder. This would be good for a middle grade (ages 8-12) child, especially one interested in those with special needs.

Advice My Parents Gave Me, Rodolfo Costa, Second Hand Saturday, Pragmatic Mom, PragmaticMom.com, http://PragmaticMom.comAdvice My Parents Gave Me and Other Lessons I Learned from My Mistakes:  A collection of 409 thoughts, quotes, lessons, ideas, suggestions, reminders, and words of advice and encouragement to help you lead a more prosperous, rewarding, peaceful, happy, and fulfilling life by Rodolfo Costa

Ok, maybe the book title alone is practically a book review. It’s a great gem of a book though.  I am a little sad to see it go, but the bookshelves must be purged!

To win either book, please leave me a comment.  If you state a convincing case of why you need the book, chances are you will be the winner. If you don’t win but want to check the book out at Amazon, just click on the image of the book.

  1. Happy New Year!! These books look fun. I am constantly trying to find books for my daughters to try. They beginners but they love to read. My way of looking at it the more the better. We just recently got Junie B Jones for our 7 year old books and for our 5 year olf Fancy Nacy ( I can read)I sure would love to try these books.

  2. Arlene on the Scene by Carol Liu with Marybeth Sidoti Caldarone would be an excellent addition to my 6th grade library. Accepting and understanding differences in middle school is never easy.
Thanks for the opportunity and Happy New Year!

  3. I LOVE the idea of the “Advice My Parents Gave Me!” As a parent of teens/tweens, I am constantly trying to teach them common sense without SOUNDING like I am teaching…(curse of the profession). I did get my 12 year old daughter Eileen Spinelli’s “Today I Will: a Year’s Notes, Quotes & Promise to Myself.” It was a book I would have been drawn to at her age, so I was thrilled when she was as excited about it as I. The “Advice” book seems along the same lines–and I love sneaking in those “life lessons” wherever I can!!!
